The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world just after the oil industry. And the environmental damage is increasing as the industry grows. Here are the facts...

  • 80 billion garments are produced each year.

  • 52 micro-collections per year are released by fast-fashion brands instead of the usual 2 seasons.

  • 400% more clothes are produced now compared to 20 years ago.

    • A garment is only worn 7 times on average, before it is thrown away.

    • 35kg of textile waste is generated per person per year in the US alone on average.

      • Only 20-30% of the clothes of most women’s wardrobes are being worn.

      However, there are solutions and alternatives to mitigate these problems. The first step lies in building awareness and willingness to change. 

      So what can WE do about it? 

      • Choose clothes made in countries with stricter environmental regulations for factories (EU, Canada, US...)

      • Choose organic and natural fibres that do not require chemicals to be produced

      • Choose fibres with low water consumption such as linen, recycled fibres etc.

      • Choose natural or semi-synthetic fibres.

      • Wash clothes only when you need to.

      • Wash clothes at a lower temperature (30ºC)

      • Buy less, buy better and recycle.

      Though we may not be able to check every box every time, we do what we can toward change for the better. By signing up to our clothing swap community, you are helping to reduce the amount of textile waste in our landfills. By practicing eco -friendly garment care you are helping to reduce the amount of micro fibres that get into our oceans. By putting your money into smaller companies that value our people, our animals and our planet you are doing your part. Remember every little bit helps. 

      HOW IT WORKS

      • Hold on to the clothing you would like to donate until the official launch date of the program.

      • You will receive an email notification of our launch date, along with detailed instructions on how to make your donation. There will be no cost to you.

      • We will notify you once your donation is received.
